All_About_Iris_Bearded_Iris
Iris is a genus of 260–300 species of flowering plants with showy flowers. It takes its name from the Greek word for a rainbow, which is also the name for the Greek goddess of the rainbow, Iris. Some authors state that the name refers to the wide variety of flower colors found among the many species. – via Wikipedia
Flowers in general have long been an esteemed favorite adornment for clothing for centuries. What an easy way to add color to a garment than to source it from your own garden in the middle ages? The beauty of flowers have since been beaded, embroidered, toiled, and mimicked in the form of lace for centuries. Everything from men’s waistcoats in the 17th century, to the silk brocades of gowns of the mid-19th century incorporated flowers. The next Spring 2019 season spares no expense in luxury and embellishment.
This time, instead of being incredibly ‘obvious’ about flowers in fashion (posting images of garments with flowers on them), I chose this one gown by Marchesa.  With this piece that they recently shared on their Instagram, I immediately saw the petals of the Wintry Sky iris flower.
This purple pleated organza gown is currently on the Moda Operandi website HERE.
