SS2015 Trend – Holographic + Iridescent Fabric

Yesterday’s article featured the hologram runway show of Ralph Lauren. See it HERE. In continuation to the hologram theme, I wanted to focus on holographic fabric. It is a trend I’ve seen in a few designers’ SS2015 collections. (A few other trends I’ve also seen are an influence in Asian culture, foil, and silver metallics.) Please keep in mind that holographic fabric is different from metallics and iridescent fabric. Want a lesson on the different fabrics? Go HERE

Fyodor Golan RTW SS2015

Digital Romanticism” was the theme for the RTW 2015 collection from Fyodor Podgorny & Golan Frydman. They created a line of playful futuristic designs and utilized high-tech fabrics, like satin woven with plastic threads. Some looks were enhanced with vibrant tropical-leaf motifs and holographic fabric. The designers also tapped into technology by teaming up with Microsoft to develop a pyramid screen that projected the show in real time, along with live images shot with Lumia 830 smartphones.

Markus Lupfer RTW SS2015

I have included designs from Markus Lupfer on DNA Stylix in the past. I’ve noticed the line loves to keep the cuts somewhat similar in nature but the prints and fabrics tend to change dramatically from one collection to the other. You can almost always expect a bomber jacket and sweatshirt of some kind in the new collection. Lupfer decided to stay true to form this time as well with his use of holographic and iridescent fabrics, changing from the more muted greys and cat prints from SS2014. The moto-inspired silhouettes were very pleasing and with a number of designers using the one-side tie in the front, the line was right on trend.
