This past Friday I had the pleasure of attending the O’More College of Design Student Fashion Show.
The panel of fashion critics for the evening were Amanda Valentine (Valentine Valentine designer and Project Runway Contestant), David Perry (owner of the DSP Group), Johnathan Kayne (designer and Project Runway All Star), and Libby Callaway (VP, Billy Reid – Global Director of Marketing & Brand Relations).
Juniors and seniors presented their collections with the help of Reflection Agency. I arrived early to take a closer look at the fabrics and garment construction backstage. I was pretty impressed with my first viewing. As any stylist knows, the garment can look completely different on a hanger verses on a body. There were certainly a few pieces hanging backstage that caught my eye for if anything but construction alone. One of those to note was the children’s clothing designer Jenny Garner who presented a charming little collection called Little Frontier.
Our quick synopsis of the evening:
Mary Alden Mills’ collection was filled with a bohemian naturalism including flowing dresses. Ashley Burks presented a collection called Gaslight Adagio which was heavily influenced by the medieval era. Rehanna Grant presented a collection entitled Annie Mae that embodied an air of Little House on the Prairie meets Robin Hood. The capelet was obviously a silhouette that I have seen before, but it was beautifully executed. Silver Elmore was another student who presented a cute little line of children’s clothing. Maarika Mann showed guests a delightful collection created with bleach.
Here are some of our favorite looks from the evening:
A special thank you to Jamie Atlas at O’More School of Design for having DNA Stylix attend the show. I look forward to what these students have in store. Best of luck to you all!
