Nashville has a number of black-tie fundraisers and one that we cannot miss is the Ballet Ball. This annual late Winter event is held at the Schermerhorn Symphony to benefit the Nashville Ballet. The six hundred dollar ticket allows guests to enjoy a cocktail hour, an elegant dinner and a performance by the Nashville Ballet. The ball also hosts a late party for the 20 to 40 year old crowd. Their portion of the party includes light dessert bites and cocktails before joining the big party for the special performances and following dance party.
This year marked the ball’s silver celebration. The Co-Chairs for the 25th anniversary were Suann Davis and Sarah Reisner. Late Party Co-Chairs were Sutton and Peter Costanza, Camillia and Will Howorth, Allison Malone and Ian Cotton. Each pair of co-chairs for the past 25 years were also recognized during the ceremony. Guests enjoyed a beautiful ballet performance paired with music from American Idol alum Kelli Pickler and Sugar & the Hi-lows. Pickler, who was announced the winner for the 16th season of Dancing with the Stars with her dance partner Derek Hough, was honored to have joined the evening to help support dance in Nashville. Following the performances, patrons danced the night away to the Pat Patrick Band.
The gowns at this event are always a surprise. There is always a variety of styles and colors. A number of designer favorites seen at the ball include Marchesa, Monique Lhuillier, and Oscar de la Renta — all of which have brought their collections to Nashville the past few years to showcase their runway shows at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center. This April the featured designer will be Christian Siriano, another Nashville crowd favorite, so check back next month for more information about that.
For this event I chose to stay local. My gown was designed by O’More School of Design graduate Megan Wilson. Her gown originally was paired with a studded belt, but since I really wanted to pair the gown with gold, I chose a different belt. My clutch was Moschino. I had so many lovely compliments on this gown. My hair was styled by Seventy at Local Honey Salon and my makeup was by Kristin at Babe Beauty Bar.
It was my goal with this article to showcase the fashion at the ball. Here are a few of my favorite looks of the night.
- Chad & Hillary wearing a fabulous gown she found in Mexico
- Nicole, Amber, & Becky
- Jonathan wearing Marc Jacobs suit & Burberry Porsom leopard shoes
- Mary wearing Jenny Packham
- Anthony wearing an ETSY bow tie with musical instruments
- AJ wearing Marchesa
- Joy in vintage Yves Saint Laurent & JR wearing an Alexander McQueen scarf
- Becky’s acrylic clutch
- A beautiful clutch I happened to see on the table. The owner was on the dance floor. Sorry, I don’t know who designed it.
