Definition of STEEPLECHASE
b : a horse race over a closed course with obstacles (as hedges and walls)
This Saturday will be the 72nd running of the Iroquois Steeplechase at Percy Warner Park.
Here at DNA Stylix we are lucky to have a lot of readers from other states & countries.
So with that being said, if you have never been to Tennessee, one of our favorite events is the Iroquois Steeplechase. It is held every year on the 2nd Saturday in May.
Proceeds from the race day go to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Since 1981, the event has raised more than $9 million for Children’s Hospital.
Being that we work first hand with some of those patients, we can attest that every donation is put to wonderful use!
Jockeys, horses, hounds, hats! Everyone comes out to have a big day of fun.
There is a huge section dedicated to the tailgaters.
There is also a variety of different tents to choose from when you purchase your ticket.
This year we will forgo our lovely tailgating spot located on the turn in exchange for the boxes.
We’ll be covering the race day as press. We’ll instagram and tweet so be sure to follow us to keep up with the action!

A quick look at how we previously styled our looks for Steeplechase:
Half the battle in regards of what to wear is based upon the weather.
A lot of tailgaters choose to wear riding boots paired with their spring dresses since the field can get really slick and soft. But no matter what, fashion is the name of the game, so find that pretty hat or bowtie with suit. And definitely plan to wear wedges instead of heels less you want to aerate the grass!
This was 2010:
